Training: New Community School, Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire, 9th-13th June 2003

The New Community School in OldmeldrumA team of Scotland's Families Trainers delivered a week's training in the superb setting of the New Community School in Oldmeldrum. The New Community School Staff, from a variety of professional backgrounds and all relatively new to their NCS post, enjoyed an Induction Week based on the Supporting Changing Families Training.

Many participants commented on the experience of training with other professionals. "Interesting to see how other professionals see the same area," one participant observed.
Another wrote, "I believe multi-disciplinary training is crucial to effective muti-disciplinary team working."

All agreed that the week was effective in raising awareness of the issues around "Changing Families". There were highlights in the week, such as the sculpt, whose impact was 'quite profound,' but each session had something to offer the group. Although participants found the training an intensive experience, their commitment and involvement made it pleasurable for all.

Of the trainers, comments included, "Good to hear someone with passion and wide knowledge about a complex issue" and, " Very good, enjoyable day, good pace, engaging trainers."

We wish the teams well as they start in their areas and hope they will be able to use the experience of the course and the numerous handouts such as the local Directory of agencies in their work.

Further NCS Training

In the Autumn we move to Central Region for more NCS Staff training. Watch this space for more details.
